Regenerative SCP is a non-surgical blood platelet treatment designed to help patients who are experiencing joint pain, tendinitis, ligament or tendon problems due to injury or wear-and-tear. It is an advanced form of today’s well-known Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP Injection, costing less than stem cell procedures and commonly used in less severe injuries and conditions.

At Catalyst Pain Solutions, we utilize a superior injection procedure called Regenexx-SCP, which stands for Super Concentrated Platelets. It utilizes the same approach to healing injured tissue, but the PRP itself is far purer and more concentrated than PRP created with an automated bedside machine. That’s because Regenexx-SCP is created in a lab environment by a skilled technician, who can utilize more of the good stuff and get rid of more of the bad stuff.

Regenerative SCP Yields Higher Platelet Concentrations

The bedside centrifuges used in most clinics can magnify the platelet count by a factor of 2-5, but typical results are closer to 2-3 times the normal amount of platelets. Regenexx SCP uses a more advanced process that can yield 10-20 and up to 40 times the normal number of platelets! In our lab tests, this higher concentration has been shown to have a positive effect on the stem cells responsible for repairing damaged tissue.

Regenerative SCP Reduces White and Red Blood Cell Contamination

Bedside centrifuges can concentrate platelets but many machines are not very good at removing the undesirable cells from the resulting mixture. Our lab tests indicate that white and red blood cells have an inhibiting effect on the same stem cells the platelets are trying to stimulate, and may cause excessive inflammation following the injection. As you can see in the image above, the . Our Regenerative SCP process results in an amber PRP that is far more pure than what’s possible with a bedside machine.

The bottom line is that Regenexx-SCP delivers much higher levels of platelets to injured areas, ensuring the best possible outcomes for for our patients.

About Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP

The process of injecting platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to help speed the repair of joint, tendon, ligament, and muscle injuries is rapidly becoming a common treatment used by orthopedic doctors. The concentrated blood platelet injection contains healing growth components that increase the body’s natural ability to repair itself. In most clinics around the world that do PRP treatments, the process of creating the PRP involves extracting the patient’s own blood and running it through a simple bedside centrifuge machine to separate the plasma and concentrate the blood platelets, which are then automatically extracted and used for the PRP injection. These bedside machines typically create a PRP with platelet counts of three to five times normal and the PRP retains a relatively high count of white and red blood cells, which may cause additional inflammation in the joint following reinjection.

PRP treatments can be effective because platelets have a stimulating effect on the stem cells within the targeted area. Stem cells are found throughout the entire body and play a key role in repairing damaged tissue, so anything that can be done to make those stem cells work harder is going to be beneficial.
